Every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new.
Who knew people used Flickr mail…especially to hate on people. A few days ago, I posted about Argrace’s Equestrian Cap. Apparently the photo in that post is a “blatant lie and false advertising.” Right now, you’re probably like “Huh? What is she going on about?” Well, in the About section, I have this short line: “Photoshop is used to touch up jagged body parts or texture glitches, basically what you see is what you’ll see in-world. For the most part.” Now maybe I SHOULD update that to something different but for the most part, it is very true. But I got some Flickr mail “accusing” me of lying. Now, I don’t excessively photoshop my photos. I don’t have the talent for that. The photo in question, all I did there was fix those stupid grid lines that SL produces with higher resolution snapshots, adjusted the tone and contrast, and added a faint lens flare to simulate the sun. That is all. No product was altered. (Click on the photo to enlarge and see the different between the Original & Edited)
Good windlights and shadows will do wonders! Other photos, especially ones that include hats without hair, is usually a combination of a multiple snapshots (hat with hair + hair without hair) then some masking to create the look of the perfect fit. MAYBE that is “false advertising” but really? There are way more Photoshopped photos out there than mine, so please calm down.
Oh, and thanks for thinking most of my raw snapshots are photoshopped! That’s like a compliment right?
Normally I don’t do this. I never do this but I feel like it needed to be done. You may know Ohna from her tumblr blog but chances are if you have a plurk account, you definitely know who Ohna is. She’s constantly replying to, it seems like, everyone’s plurks. With only positive things most of the time. To be honest, I don’t know her very well but there are so many things I want to say about her but don’t know how to put into words that would make sense. She is an amazing person (who doesn’t give herself enough credit!) and she has a gorgeous face that I freaking love!
I had planned to write a big long thing but (as mentioned above) I just can’t seem to find the right words. If you’re wondering why even bother, it’s because of 2 main reasons. The first being this. When my laptop went in for repairs, I thought no big deal, no one will notice that I wouldn’t be blogging. The fact that Ohna actually looks at my blog and told me she would actually miss it (!!), well THAT really made me feel good and like I wasn’t wasting my time with this blog. Which, I admit, I had been feeling that way for a few weeks. The second reason is this. The girl is a fountain of knowledge! She’s so up-to-date with what’s going on, it’s mind blowing. Combine that with the fact that she would take the time to mention everything is just amazing. Like everyone else, she has her ups and downs but it always seems to put her needs/mood aside and tries to make everyone feel better if they are having a bad day.
Ohna, I hope you know you are admired, loved and cared about by many. You are never alone and I’m sure there are plenty of people who are there for you if you ever need them to be, myself included. Whether you know it or not, you’ve touched many people’s lives and you definitely make the world a better place. Don’t ever doubt yourself.
One year. Amazing how time goes by so quick sometimes. I honestly never though Next Pointless Trend would make it past 3 months but here it is. Still alive and getting more hits than ever. Seriously, 18 000+ views? I never imagined that. Ever. So thank you very much for that because, as nerd as it is, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that people actually do take time to look at my little part of cyber space.
Surprisingly, I’ve been asked a few times why I started blogging. No, it wasn’t to get free junk (seriously) nor because I’m super vain and it’s a good excuse to take photos of myself. I actually started blogging because of Bouncer Criss from PixelPhasion4Men. Before starting any type of blog, I had admired his photos on flickr, creeped his blog and discovered how fun blogging could be. Eventually we started talking, did some photos together and I had the privilege of calling him a friend for a short time. He might not know it but he taught me many things and he continues to be an inspiration.
I’ve had some ups and downs, crap photos to not so crap photos, and everything in between here on NPT (including times when I just want to stop completely). I have no idea what the future holds for NPT but I definitely look forward to continually providing some form of entertainment to anyone who happens to take the time and check out my little blog.
(Enjoy me being vain again!)
She’s on the highest dose of Prozac a woman can take,
She’s likes to pop her pain pills with every little ache,
She’s got a Tennessee mountain point of view,
If your gonna have one might as well have two
Raised up right in the hills of Kentucky,
No she ain’t gonna smile ’til she lights up her lucky,
No filter on her mouth or her cigarettes
Oh baby what your lookin’ at is what you get
She’s a root tootin’ pistol from the lone star state
She’s mixes up a double at the break of everyday
She might get crazy but she don’t get mean
Until some drunk cowboy asks her to sing
We owe 400 dollars to the boys in the band
Gas lights blinking on our broke down van
We’re living on truck stop burgers and fries
Crossing our fingers for a vacancy sign
Now who in the hell is gonna be pay these bills
When one’s drinking, one’s smoking, one’s taking pills
I did a previous post with MandyLeigh of That Girl MandyLeigh and Eve of…Eve that was inspired by the song Takin’ Pills by Pistol Annies. BUT because I’m a ‘tard sometimes, I totally did everything wrong. So I kidnapped these fabulous ladies again and did a proper picture. Much better I think. And yes, this was just an excuse to get some of my photography idols together. But shhhhh.
